REN18 (Yutang, “Jade Hall”) is an acupuncture point on the Conception Vessel Meridian. It is located on the anterior midline of the chest, at the level of the third intercostal space, midway between REN17 and REN19. It regulates Qi and descends rebellion in the chest, alleviates cough and asthma.

Needling

Oblique insertion inferiorly 0.5-1 cun. Caution: Pneumothorax.

⚠ Pneumothorax risk: oblique/shallow only, never deep perpendicular over the chest wall.
