REN19 Purple Palace

REN19 (Zigong, “Purple Palace”) is an acupuncture point on the Conception Vessel Meridian. It is located on the anterior midline of the chest, at the level of the second intercostal space, midway between REN18 and REN20. It regulates Qi and descends rebellion in the chest, alleviates cough and asthma.

Needling

Oblique insertion inferiorly 0.5-1 cun. Caution: Pneumothorax.

⚠ Pneumothorax risk: oblique/shallow only, never deep perpendicular over the chest wall.
