Needle obliquely or transversely, never deeply or perpendicularly toward the chest wall. The Suwen warns that needling into the Kidney can cause death in five or six days. The Zhen Jiu Ju Ying repeats this warning. This highlights the importance of correct depth and angle to avoid puncturing the organ.
