The Lung channel originates in the middle jiao, descending to connect with the large intestine. It then ascends through the diaphragm, enters the Lungs, and passes to the throat. From the Lungs, it emerges laterally below the clavicle, courses along the anterior-lateral aspect of the upper arm, through the cubital fossa, and down the radial side of the forearm. It crosses the radial artery at the wrist, continues along the thenar eminence, and terminates at the tip of the thumb.
This channel governs Qi and respiration, controlling the skin and hair, and regulating water passages. It is responsible for diffusing Wei Qi throughout the body and descending Lung Qi to maintain proper breathing and fluid metabolism.
Disorders manifest as cough, asthma, shortness of breath, chest fullness, and pain in the supraclavicular fossa. Other symptoms include coldness and pain along the channel pathway, sweating abnormalities, and skin issues like dryness or eczema.
