BL54 Zhibian

BL54 (Zhibian, “Zhibian”) is an acupuncture point on the Bladder Meridian. It is located in the sacral region, 3 cun lateral to the midline, at the level of the 4th posterior sacral foramen. This point is located by having the patient lie in a prone position. It strengthens the lumbar spine and legs, regulates urination, clears damp-heat from the Lower Jiao, and treats hemorrhoids.

Needling

Perpendicular or perpendicular-oblique insertion, 1.5 to 2.5 cun. Deep needling can be directed medially and inferiorly towards the sacral foramen.
