BL43 Vital Region Shu

BL43 (Gaohuangshu, “Vital Region Shu”) is an acupuncture point on the Bladder Meridian. It is located on the upper back, 3 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the fourth thoracic vertebra (T4), at the level of BL14 (Jueyinshu). It tonifies deficiency, strengthens the body, regulates qi, alleviates cough and asthma.

Needling

Oblique insertion 0.5-1.0 cun. Caution for pneumothorax.

⚠ Pneumothorax risk: oblique/shallow only, never deep perpendicular over the chest wall.
